GRANTS
Grants are funds the federal and state government provides
to assist an individual with expenses beyond high school.
Grants do not have to be repaid. Grants available at Meridian
Technology Center are the Federal Pell Grant and the Oklahoma
Tuition Aid Grant (OTAG). You can apply for both grants via
the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available
in the Meridian Technology Center Financial Aid Office, local
libraries, most schools and colleges and online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT (WIA)
WIA is designed to assist individuals facing employment barriers,
economic disadvantages or individuals who require additional
training to secure productive employment. Eligibility is determined
by a WIA counselor. Additional information is available by
calling the office of Workforce Investment at 405-624-1450
or 800-749-1149.
VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION: STATE
Oklahoma
Vocational Rehabilitative Services is an assistance program
for individuals who are physically or mentally challenged/disabled.
Eligibility is determined at the local office by a Vocational
Rehabilitation Counselor. The office may be contacted at 405-372-1995.
VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION: VETERANS
Veterans
Vocational Rehabilitation is an assistance program for
veterans with service-related disabilities. Eligibility is
determined by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
OKLAHOMA GI BILL
Tuition-free training is available for individuals who meet
all of the following criteria:
- Received an honorable discharge from the armed services.
- Served a minimum of 18 consecutive months in active duty
between August 10, 1964 and December 31, 1976.
- Still have entitlement.
- Were residents of Oklahoma at the time of entry as indication
on the DD-214.
- Accepted benefits from a vocation-technical school at
least once during the first 15 years following an honorable
discharge or release.
Applications are available from the Meridian Technology Center
Financial Aid Office.
VETERAN'S EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS
Numerous programs are available for veterans eligible under
Chapters 31, 32, or 34 and dependents of veterans eligible
under Chapter 35 of Title 38 of the U.S. Code. Eligibility
is determined by the Department
of Veterans Affairs.
NATIVE AMERICAN TRIBAL GRANTS
Tribal grants may be available for Native Americans. Eligibility
is determined by each tribal agency. Contact the appropriate
tribal agency office for eligibility and application procedures.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Meridian Technology Center Foundation Scholarships and Loans
are available for students who require supplemental assistance
for tuition and /or book expenses. Qualifications include
demonstrated financial need and ability to benefit from vocational
education. Applications are available from the Meridian Technology
Center Foundation.
Other scholarships are provided each year by numerous community
and civic organizations. The Financial Aid Office will provide
applications and information through instructors as these
opportunities occur.
