Computer Aided Drafting gives you the opportunity to consolidate
ideas, sketches, and specifications to scaled drawings by
studying general drafting using compasses, dividers, protractors,
and triangles on traditional drafting boards. Once the basic
skills are acquired, you can advance to and specialize in
piping, machine drafting, or architectural drawings.
EQUIPMENT
The CAD department uses the latest releases of software including
AutoCAD and Micro Station. There are 20 workstations that
have up-to-date computer software to aid in learning drafting
techniques.
STRONG POINTS
Meridian Technology Center uses only the latest in CAD equipment
as well as up-to-date software. Some of the software programs
used in Drafting are: AutoCAD 14 and 2000, Mechanical Desktop
3, AutoCAD, Architectural 200 and Solidworks. This program
offers you "hands on" opportunities in CAD drawing.
SKILLS NEEDED FOR SUCCESS
Strong basic reading and math skills (addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division of fractions), and written communication
skills are essential for success in this program. Good eye-hand
coordination and motor skills will also help you to progress
quickly through this program.
