This program is a two-year program, which prepares you for
jobs in the Culinary, Food Service and Restaurant Industry
Hospitality. You will train in Operations, Service, Salads,
Bakery, Range, Catering and Management. The course instruction
develops skills in job readiness, food production, service
and supervision, safety, sanitation, profitability, good working
relations, production of a quality, attractive product are
emphasized. Upon successful completion of this program you
may receive occupational certification from Meridian Technology
Center and the Oklahoma Department of Vocational and Technical
Education.
EQUIPMENT USED
You will learn to use the following commercial cooking equipment:
steamer, steam-jacket kettle, deep fat fryers, gas range,
tilting skillet, conventional and convection ovens, slicer,
chopper, mixer, grater, and food processing equipment. Students
learn proper use of hand tools, weights and measures, garnishing,
and decorating.
STRONG POINT
Individualized one-on-one instruction, state of the art facility
and equipment, highest quality food and training materials
are utilized. Specialized training in cake decorating, garnishing,
catering, and gourmet cooking.
SKILLS NEEDED FOR SUCCESS
English, math, problem solving, and human relations skills
are essential in the program. Ability to read and follow recipes,
leadership and team working skills are beneficial.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Students train specifically for these occupations: Cook or
Cook's Helper, Baker or Baker's Assistant, Cashier, Salad
and Pantry Worker, Dining Room Host or Server, Wait Person,
Dinner or Fry Cook, Cashier and Manager Trainee.
