| Computer numeric control machinists are skilled
workers who are able to make all types of parts using metal,
plastic and a wide variety of other materials using both manual
and computer-aided machines. You will learn how to set up and
operate all of the basic CNC machine tools and the usage of
all the common precision measuring tools. You will also learn
the properties of different metals to be machined as well as
how to read engineering drawings.
EQUIPMENT USED
You will learn the use of CNC Lathes and CNC Milling Machines.
STRONG POINT
The program uses industrial quality equipment as well as training
style equipment and a "hands-on" approach for training.
SKILLS NEEDED FOR SUCCESS
The desired basic skills are at least on year of machine shop
training, plus reading and math, communication, problem solving,
and the effective use of logic and reasoning skills. Physically,
you must be able to see well (either naturally or with correction)
and have good eye and hand coordination. Basic computing skills
will be taught.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Methods of entering this occupation include direct application
to employers, or temporary services, and other methods. Completers
of this program will be prepared to seek employment in manufacturing
and machining related fields. The positions available offer
