All financial aid funds at Meridian Technology Center
are disbursed through the Bursar's Office. The Bursar's
Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Federal Pell Grant funds are disbursed in the form of a check.
The check will be for the amount of the scheduled disbursement
minus any charges for tuition and/or books/supplies deferred
to financial aid by the student.
Pell Grant disbursements, based on the availability
of funds from the U.S. Department of Education, will be issued
approximately 60 days after the first class day and a complete
student financial aid file is established. Students will be
notified by the Financial Aid Office when Pell Grant funds
are available for disbursement. Photo identification and signature
verification are required by the Bursar at the time of disbursement.
Students sponsored by an agency (i.e., JTPA, Vocational
Rehabilitative Services, etc.) and qualified for a Pell Grant
should be aware that all deferred tuition and/or books/supply
charges are withheld from the first funding agency to submit
payment. If the scheduled Pell Grant disbursement arrives
prior to payment from a sponsoring agency, deferred tuition
and/or books/supply charges will be withheld from the Pell
Grant disbursement. Amounts withheld from a Pell Grant disbursement
for tuition and/or books/supply charges will be refunded to
the student following receipt of payment by a sponsoring agency.
VERIFICATION
The Financial Aid Office is required by the federal government
to verify a percentage of all applicants. The information
to be verified may include, but is not limited to, federal
taxes paid; other untaxed income; household size; and number
of family members who are attending college. If selected for
verification, the Financial Aid Office will issue a letter
to the applicant requesting additional information be submitted.
An applicant selected for verification must return requested
verification documentation to the Financial Aid Office within
thirty (30) days of receiving the request. No disbursement
will be processed until verification is complete.
