Heartsaver AED

Course Description:

·        A comprehensive program that teaches the basic techniques of adult CPR and the use of an automated external defibrillator.  This course is designed for firefighters, police, airline personnel, security guards, other lay rescuers, and those who may need to respond to a cardiac emergency.  Students will learn adult  CPR; foreign body airway obstruction for adults; and utilization of mouth-to-mouth, mouth-to-mask, and bag-valve ventilation skills.  Students will also be certified in the utilization of an automated external defibrillator(AED).

·        AHA Certification is obtained upon successful completion.

·        Students must attend the entire class to be eligible for completion.

·        Student must demonstrate the skills and pass a written test with 85 percent or better to successfully complete certification requirements.

·        Certification is for two years.

·        Majority of class time will be spent on the floor practicing/learning skills utilizing the manikins.  Students are encouraged to dress comfortably.

·        Adult one- and two-rescuer CPR

·        Adult obstructed airway

·        Mouth-to-mask ventilation

·        Bag-valve mask ventilation

·        Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Training
