Renamed Meridian Technology Center in 1994, a premiere Oklahoma
training center had its beginnings as Indian Meridian Area
Vocational-Technical School on July 1, 1973, with Dr. Fred
A. Shultz as Superintendent/CEO. In August of 1975, classes
began with 13 daytime programs and staff of approximately
30. In addition to serving high school students and adults
in the full-time day programs, short-term evening courses
served 1,635 students in the first year. The facility, located
on 70 acres west of Stillwater, Oklahoma, began with 92,000
square feet and now encompasses more than 200,000 square feet.
During the succeeding years, the school has grown to 34 daytime
and adult full-time programs (with approximately 900 students
enrolled in this area alone). The school employs over 100
full-time staff members; additionally, approximately 150 instructors
are employed on a short-term basis. Total enrollment, which
includes short-term adult courses, business and industry training,
daytime instruction, full-time adult programs and customized
training, averages over 11,000 students per year.
